Boomhuis Boys Hostel

Hoërskool Ben Viljoen’s  boys’ hostel is known as "Boomhuis" and was taken into use in 1951, first as a mixed unit and later as a full-fledged boys’ hostel. In Boomhuis you will make friends who will always be there for you. You will laugh together, play together and of course study together. Boomhuis is not just a place to stay! It's a home with a family that knows how to live! Walking, playing, as well as studying. We make everything special and better!

The choice is simple: Boomhuis is the place to be. This is the place where we do great things together!

The residence can accommodate 75 boys and serves three meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Rooms accommodate one learner per room, except for Grade 8 learners who sometimes have to share.
Boys can start returning on Sundays from 16:00 and have to check out again on Fridays at 13:30.

Hostel Fees are available here. 

Learners stay in the same room until grade 12 and may paint the room. Residence furniture may not be painted but may be sanded and varnished.

Requirements for the residence:
• Own bedding and curtains. (Window size: Width 135 cm, length to window sill 165 cm, length to floor 245 cm.
• Comfortable clothes for sports.
• Swimwear and towel.
• School supplies
• Toiletries.
• Dustbin, broom and duster.
• Shoe polish + Brush - nice clean school shoes are a must.
• Lock for cupboard and door.
• Bible or Diary (How else can you approach and end the day?)
• Laundry bag.
• Bath plug or if you like to shower – flip flops.
• Toilet paper.
• Pictures and decorations for your room.
• Requirements for school newcomers will be announced.

Study : 14:15 – 15:00(Boys can attend extra classes at school)

Dinner : 17:30 / 17:45
1st Study : 18:45 - 19:45
Break : 19:45 - 20:00
2nd Study : 20:00 - 21:00
Silence : 21:30 - 21:40 (in rooms)
Lights out : 21:40
Late study (Optional as arranged by on-duty staff)
